Post subject: Where are the settings
Archived from groups: macromedia>flash (more info?)

Stupid question, but:
Where are panels with the settings? Are they on my computer or on the
Macromedia web site? The help is confusing. It says "click on the following
links to go directly to the relevant panels", but when I click on the link, I
get what looks like another help page. I want the settings themselves. I want
to be able to see what my settings are, and to know when I have successfully
changed them. And I don't want to have to go through Macromedia's web site to
do so.

Thanks.

What "settings" are you trying to change?

Any and all settings that are available to change.

A friend here suggested I find a page that actually has a Flash object in it,
activate the object, and then right-click. Sure enough, that got me the
settings referenced in the Help. These are about "privacy" (whether or not
Flash can accept input from the local microphone or camera), "security"
(whether or not to allow certain types of information transfer across domains),
"local storage" (how much local storage (if any) Flash is allowed to use to
store information from the web site), and I think recording volume for the
microphone.

However, now I want to be able to do two things:
1) turn down (or completely OFF) the volume. The Scion web site has some of
the most obnoxious music I have ever heard.
2) selectively disable Flash altogether. I don't need it 99.999% of the time,
and sorry to say this in a user forum, but I'd really rather not use it at all
if I didn't have to. I don't see anything in the Macromedia web site about how
to do this, so I may be stuck uninstalling the Active X control when I'm done
with this particular web site.

Thanks for any help.

You can't regulate someone else's swf. Maybe just turn down your volume. I thought you wanted to know how to adjust the setting within your own swf.
