there are no "scenes" upon export - only part of the flash suthoring environment.
say you have 2 scenes, 100 frames each, upon export frame 1 in scene 2 becomes frame 101.

always use frame labels and never target scene names and numbers.

I don't think there is such a switch in Flash MX 2004. It used to be in older versions, and I've heard it might be back again in Flash 8.
What makes you think you aren't an expert Smile

well im trying to link up scenes. the older versions i could just select on, go
to , scene number. now i hear using labels is better, but i'm not sure. what's
the best script for this. i've been trying the folowing but i won't take:

on(release)
{
gotoAndPlay("1_contact");
}

This is perfectly correct actionscript. Two questions:
1) where did you put it? it should be on a button, meaning the window in which
you entered these lines should have "Actions - Button" as a title, not "Actions
- Frame"! You get it there by selecting the button (clicking, not
double-clicking it) and opening the actions panel(F9)
2) Is there a label in your movie called "1_contact"? In other words did you
name one of your frames like that?
Good luck

The label can be in any scene. That's the beauty of it Smile
