Post subject: FLV not playing in FF and Opera
Archived from groups: macromedia>flash (more info?)

Hi,
I have the following problem and hope someone has another idea how to solve
it...
I created a flv file from a Quicktime movie and embedded it into a swf file
including a video control bar.
Then I published both and copied it to the server.
The film loads on the machine (Mac) I created it in Firefox and Safari (so
this might indeed be a "relative path" issue).
On another machine (Windows XP), the film loads fine in IE but does not in
Firefox and Opera. I tried different file names, absolute (http) address for
the flv file, put them all in the same directory (no relative paths),
nothing worked.
I just get a blinking "flv" icon in Firefox.

Any idea will be appreciated Wink
thanx
Gabi

What version of Flash is installed in Firefox?

Just because you have a particular version installed in IE doesn't mean that
version (or any version) is installed for FireFox to use.

Point Firefox on the windows machine to
http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about/ to check.

Otherwise, give us the address of the movie in question so someone else can
try and access the film...

I don't think so, maybe the publish setting of your swf
point ti a "45" release, so a "16" player won't play it.

Hi

thank you very much for the tip, I still cannot believe it but that was the
cause...
I had version 9,0,16,0 installed in Firefox and Opera, and 9,0,45,0 in IE
When I upgraded to 9,0,45,0 in FF, it worked ...
does that mean that there is no possibility to show a flv movie under
version 9,0,16,0?

thanks again
Gabi

Hi,
I found this on the Acrobat page
Fixes and improvements in Flash Player 9.0.45.0: Support for Creative Suite
3
Flash Player 9.0.45.0 includes bug fixes and improvements for Adobe Flash
CS3 Professional. This update is only for Windows and Macintosh platforms.

New ActionScript 3.0 components for Flash CS3 Professional do not function
correctly in versions prior to Flash Player 9.0.45.0.

Guess it has something to do with that Sad
