We've seen 3D anaglyph movies like Shrek 3D and Spy Kids 3D. The interest to
the anaglyph is coming back. So why not to add this simple feature to
Macromedia Flash?

I don't mean add 3D rendering features, 3rd party software, like Swift 3D, can
do this for Flash. Let's assume we have 2 stereoscopic views (movies/symbols).
But how to blend them, in order to obtain the anaglyph? There is one simple
way: use Tint (or Advanced) in Movie's Color Properties, and than set alpha=50%
for upper movie object. But half of brightness is being lost by this method.

What would be nice is some blend method for 2 layers (or 2 movies/symbols)
which will produce anaglyph. Many web and webgame designers will have a really
powerful tool to publish 3D

3Dimka,

For some of us, the interest in anaglyph has never gone away. Wink I
wouldn't call this a "simple" feature, though, by any stretch. In any case,
it's not a feature many people would use, I think. Anaglyphs are definitely
cool, but not many people produce them.

Again, "simple" ... but this simple solution fails. You could also
experiment with semi-transparent PNGs. The trouble is, Flash needs blend
modes. With the addition of blend modes, Flash could in fact produce
anaglyphs just like Macromedia Director can.

Aha! We're on the same track. Smile It is *rumored* that the next
version of Flash will have blend modes. Obviously, that's no guarantee, but
at least the hope for it is not unfounded. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Well they did add it and it works.
http://www.cte.napier.ac.uk/firrs/3dflashin3d.php
Create two movieclips - one for the left eye and one for the right eye.
Assuming you are using a black background...
Use advanced colour styles to get 100% Red, 0% blue and 0% green for the left eye view and 0% red 100% blue 100% green for the right eye view.
Then use the add blend for both clips.
Don't do this on an object by object basis otherwise overlaps won't work. Do it for the whole scene. It works with images as well as drawn objects.
